Ange Postecoglou’s start to life at Nottingham Forest has been anything but smooth. The Australian manager, appointed on 9 September 2025 following the dismissal of Nuno Espírito Santo, has endured a winless opening run that’s already testing patience around the City Ground.

Postecoglou is now the first permanent Forest manager in over 100 years to go without a win in his opening six matches, with his fourth defeat coming on Thursday night — a 3-2 loss at home to Danish side FC Midtjylland in the Europa League.

⚽ Results So Far

  • 13 Sept: Arsenal 3–0 Nottingham Forest (Premier League)
  • 17 Sept: Swansea 3–2 Nottingham Forest (Carabao Cup)
  • 20 Sept: Burnley 1–1 Nottingham Forest (Premier League)
  • 24 Sept: Real Betis 2–2 Nottingham Forest (Europa League)
  • 27 Sept: Nottingham Forest 0–1 Sunderland (Premier League)
  • 2 Oct: Nottingham Forest 2–3 FC Midtjylland (Europa League)

Despite the difficult start, there are some mitigating factors. Postecoglou inherited a squad that wasn’t his own and had no pre-season to instil his attacking style of football — a philosophy that takes time and the right players to execute effectively.

Still, results are the currency in the Premier League, and Forest fans are growing restless. The question now is whether Postecoglou will be given time to reach January, when he can reshape the squad, offload the players who don’t fit his system, and bring in reinforcements that suit his high-tempo style.

Can Ange weather the storm long enough to turn things around, or will the ruthless nature of modern football claim another manager before Christmas?
