Thomas Tuchel has released his England squad for the upcoming fixtures against Wales and Latvia — and his selections have already caused a storm among supporters.
The squad shockingly excludes Phil Foden, Jude Bellingham, Jack Grealish and Adam Wharton, with Tuchel opting instead for a mix of regulars and surprise names.

Why Fans Are Stunned
The biggest shock is the exclusion of Jack Grealish, who has enjoyed a strong start to the season and arguably been more consistent than Phil Foden at Manchester City.
Tuchel’s decision looks even more baffling when compared to the inclusion of Ollie Watkins and Morgan Rogers, both of whom have had a notably poor start to the campaign at Aston Villa.
Leaving out Jude Bellingham, who is widely regarded as one of the best players in Europe right now, has also fuelled outrage, while Adam Wharton’s omission feels harsh given his progress.
Possible Reasons
- Tactical experiments? Tuchel may be using Wales and Latvia as lower-risk fixtures to trial fringe players.
- Managing workloads? Resting Bellingham and Foden ahead of tougher international and club fixtures.
- Making a statement? Setting a tone early by picking players who fit his system rather than relying on star power.
What’s Next
Tuchel now faces enormous pressure: anything less than convincing wins over Wales and Latvia will turn the spotlight even brighter on his selections. If England stutter, the conversation will not just be about results — it will be about who was left out.
